“Why do we pray? Isn’t it better to do something?”
Taking action is good; it’s obedience to the leading and commands of God. At the same time, this question exposes how we can easily miss the importance and obedience of prayer. A low view of prayer exposes a heart that chooses to rely on human action instead of God’s. “Prayer is the open admission that without Christ we can do nothing. And prayer is the turning away from ourselves to God in the confidence that He will provide the help we need” (John Piper).
If today you are discouraged with the struggles Myanmar faces, and are discouraged that you cannot see God’s answers to your prayers on a national scale, take heart. He is always working.
