The real meaning of Christmas

The real meaning of Christmas

Christmas is here and everywhere! December has come and with it all the celebrations and greetings. But what is the real meaning of Christmas? Is Christmas just the gifts under the tree, the lightings in the balcony, the cards in the mail and every decoration we see around?

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the promise Savior foretold by God’s prophets 700 years before His birth. Jesus is not just a special person, He is God, who became man. God humbled Himself and became a human being to carry the wages of our sin and sorrow. Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

The Bible says that we have sinned. We are all born with a sin nature. We do things that do not please God. Through the sins of our ancestors, Adam and Eve, we have all inherited that sin nature. We may know ourselves that we have that sin nature deep inside. We need to have that removed. The only way is through Jesus.

Jesus came so He could die on the cross for All of our sins. Thus, the birth of Jesus is divine encountering with humanity. Indeed, the word Christmas is a combination of two words: Christ, which means the Anointed One, and Mass, which means “People”. The birth of Jesus marks the most privilege for all humanity to be able to encounter God in the flesh and receive the gift of God, eternal life. If we believe that Jesus died for our sins and resurrected from death on the third day, we can ask Him to come into our hearts and forgive our sins. Then, we are clean and made whole. We can know that we will be resurrected into glory like Him one day after this life is over.

We can truly be happy at Christmas! As you have received Jesus Christ into your life, we can know that we are God’s sons and daughters. No matter what’s happening today, heaven will be our home one day. If you have not received Jesus Christ, look at Christmas in a new way this year. This is the Christmas to invite Jesus into your heart personally. You will then have a “Merry Christmas.” Jesus, the Prince of Peace, will fill the joy and peace within you.

Christmas is all about Jesus. Jesus is the reason for the Season. Rejoice!

Merry Christmas everyone!
