The Lord is pouring out His uncontainable blessing on the strategy of digital evangelism in Myanmar. Before the coup, eight teams of local evangelists were trained in how to share Gospel content over social media, which allowed digital seekers to connect with these evangelists for follow-up conversations and prayer. When the coup descended on Myanmar, all but one of these teams discontinued, as only a handful of evangelists were able to persevere in this work.
Now, this persevering digital evangelism team has seen a surge of interest that has far outstripped its ability to keep up. In just five days, this team was hit with 16,480 unique conversation requests – over half the one-on-one ministry volume all eight teams used to handle within an entire year! Amazingly, this digital campaign cost less than $40 USD, less than 1% of the past cost to bring in the same volume of conversations. While normal advertising in Myanmar has drastically fallen due to the coup, the team can truly find no adequate explanation beyond the powerful move of God stirring up spiritual hunger across Myanmar.
There is now a massive need for more evangelists and laborers in Myanmar to follow-up with these digital seekers. Our digital evangelism coordinator joyfully pleaded, “Do not pray for any more fish in Myanmar! Only laborers! [Our team] got absolutely flooded this campaign, and it broke our digital nets.” Praise God with us for this mighty flood of spiritual online seekers in Myanmar, and pray with us for enough laborers to bring in this massive catch!
