August third Sunday is set to be celebrated as the Bible Sunday in Myanmar. Bible Sunday is celebrated worldwide on different dates based on the arrival of biblical literature in different places and denominations.
It’s said the Bible ministry in Myanmar started 125 years ago by the British and Foreign Bible Society as one of its agencies. 68 different languages have received either the whole Bible or New Testament or portion of the Bible out of the 135 races in the country.(Source: https://bsmyanmar.org/about-us/) Globally, there are 3,589 languages with at least some Scripture translated. In commemorating Bible Sunday this year, church leaders in Myanmar is preaching and organizing events with a theme of “God’s Bible for the Reconciliation of the World” referencing Genesis 45:1-15, Psalm 85:8-13, Isaiah 11:6-9, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Ephesians 2:13-18 and Corinthians 1:20-23. Indeed, we pray for the move of God of Reconciliation in Myanmar and many parts of the world. Amen!
