Myanmar usually experiences the highest temperature only around the beginning of May. Nevertheless, a new record high temperature of 45 degrees Celsius was experienced in Chauk Township, Magway Region on April 19th after the Thingyan period this year.
“This year, the temperature may hit a new record. I predict it will take place between April 19 to May 1. We will continue to monitor”, said U Win Naing, a weather forecaster citing international weather reports.
Due to the high temperature, some regions are suffering from water scarcity, including areas where intense fighting is ongoing. People living in Yangon apartments who solely rely on electricity are also facing the same problem of electricity and water shortage.
Children and the elderly people, including in the refugee camps and in the dry zones, are suffering from health problems such as dizziness, fatigue, and weakness, due to the severe weather. Under 40 degrees Celsius, some people are facing a situation to run for their lives amid the heat and the fighting.
Let’s pray for God’s Sovereignty over Myanmar weather!
