The Moken people live on islands along the Myeik peninsula. The population of the Moken people in Myanmar is only over two thousand. This group of people spend most of their lives in the ocean water rather than on land. They mainly depend on fishing. Almost fifty years ago, a woman named Naw Say Bay committed over thirty-three years of her life to this community. She served among them by providing education and by sharing the love of Jesus. Because of her obedience and faithfulness to God’s calling, today many of the Moken people worship God and read the Bible in their own language.
To support the fruits of her mission, one of our ministry partnered teams made an initial trip to Myeik islands in January. Just recently, God has opened an opportunity to make a second trip.
Prayer Requests
Let’s pray for God’s protection on the sea journey and that God would use them as His instruments to pray and share the love of Jesus among them. Also pray that the Moken mission founded by Naw Say Bay will continue to expand God’s kingdom in the community.
