Myanmar Independence Day Devotional from Bishop Mawia

Myanmar Independence Day Devotional from Bishop Mawia

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” ~Psalm 118: 8 & 9

On the 4th of January 1948, Myanmar attained independence from British rule. It reminds us that we were freed from the rule and power of sin and Satan when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, died on the cross, and rose from the dead.  As human beings we tend to depend on our own self, or on people in power. But Psalm 118:8-9 says that it is better to depend on the Lord, “for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1John 4:4). Let us face 2022 with confidence, knowing that in Him we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) and have the victory. Shalom!

Emeritus Bishop Mawia, Yangon, Myanmar
