“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.”
~ Revelation 21:3
Ever since our sinful rebellion broke our relationship with God, our world has been filled with sorrow, suffering, and death. Ever since our sin separated us from God, God has been working to make a way for Him to dwell with us again. He gave His people Israel the tabernacle, a special tent, that would carry His presence among them. Later, He allowed them to build a temple in Jerusalem to show that God was living in their midst. Then, God decided to come to earth Himself in the most personal way: He entered our world as a human being, Jesus, and lived among us. Jesus became the dwelling place of God on earth, the new temple, who began to restore our broken relationship with God and reverse all of our brokenness. He comforted people in their sorrow, healed them in their suffering, and raised the dead back to life. And one day, when Jesus comes back to the earth, God promises that the whole earth will once again be His dwelling place: All sorrow, suffering, and death will be no more. All who have put their trust in Jesus will be God’s people, and He Himself will be their God. For all of eternity, with a joy that we cannot yet imagine, we will be with God and He will live with us.

Pray that Myanmar, and every nation on earth, would be filled with and transformed by this hope — that one day, all sorrow, suffering and death will be no more when God comes to dwell with His people.
