Last year, many teams of volunteer evangelists in Myanmar received training on how to share the Gospel and reach their nation through the Internet. As the momentum started to build, the coup in February ground all digital evangelism to a halt. All the teams were hard hit by the coup, COVID, and all their impacts on Myanmar’s structures, and the evangelists were released from digital evangelism responsibilities to focus on their immediate neighbors, family, and friends.
Yet not all of them have stopped the work. To the glory of God, four of these digital evangelists have been so captured by a heart for the rapid spread of the Gospel in Myanmar that they have persevered to do the work of digital evangelism in spite of all the chaos and loss that surrounds them. In August 2021, these dedicated evangelists put a Burmese Gospel tract or Burmese video telling the story of the Prodigal Son in front of 4,836,178 people in Myanmar through social media and now 112 of them have expressed a desire to receive a Bible and learn more about Jesus! These seekers, many of whom had never before heard the Gospel, are now being connected to local churches and believers in their area for follow-up.
One digital evangelist agreed to meet five Buddhists to pray with them in person. One of the five was a woman who had recently been hit by a motorbike and was badly injured. When he arrived, they thought they needed to pay him, but he explained that prayer is free because it is the love of God. He prayed for the woman, shared the Gospel, and went home. The next morning, he received a call from the group: the woman was making a miraculous recovery! They told him they were interested in hearing the Gospel again and would like to arrange another meeting.
- Pray for these seekers to surrender their lives to the Lord and grow into strong and devoted followers of Christ, deeply connected to other believers.
- Pray for physical and spiritual protection over these dedicated digital evangelists. Pray that the Lord would be their Strength as they work for Him.
