Day Nineteen  – Gang Violence(21 Days of Prayer for Myanmar)

Day Nineteen  - Gang Violence(21 Days of Prayer for Myanmar)

Violence will disappear from your land; the desolation  and destruction of war will end. Salvation will surround  you like city walls, and praise will be on the lips of all who  enter there.” – Isaiah 60:18

As violence spreads across Myanmar from the military junta,  gang warfare is also spiking in the nation’s worst slums. Since  all rule of law has broken down, gangs have stepped into  slum communities to offer protection in the absence of police  – and as they always do, they prey on men and youth who  are desperately hungry for a sense of security, belonging,  and control in their chaos-ridden world. The result has been  a massive increase in violence. Armed with machetes and  molotov cocktails, these groups are highly vengeful and  have caused a surge of blood feuds and killings. Kidnapping and taking girls for brides in other countries has increased as well.

1. Cry out to the LORD God for these residents, that He would  protect them and bring salvation instead of violence to fill  their communities.

2. Pray for the leaders of these gangs, that the LORD God  would change their hearts and transform them into true  protectors of these vulnerable communities.
