“Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” – Psalm 62:8
For over 70 years, the Karen people have struggled for independence against the Burmese army. The coup shattered a fragile ceasefire agreement and reignited the worst hostilities the Karen have seen in 20 years. The Burmese Army has been advancing on the Karen State, driving thousands to flee towards Thailand. Hundreds of refugees have fled into neighboring Thailand, pursued by mortars and airstrikes. They have found only temporary relief here, with most of them being deported back across the border into Myanmar. The fear of airstrikes persists, however, and the need continues to be overwhelming and ongoing.
1. Pray that God would be a Refuge and strong Provider for the Karen people, especially the thousands hiding along the Thai-Burmese border.
2. Pray that Karen believers would be powerfully contagious carriers of the Gospel, and that their hope in Christ would shine brightly in their difficult circumstances.
