“For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire. For to us a child is born… and His name shall be called… Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:5-7
Over the last year and a half, the war has escalated from bursts of violence to a more consistent conflict. As the military junta’s crackdowns steadily worsened, more and more protesters began choosing more aggressive, desperate forms of self defense: firebombs, bows and arrows, and makeshift firearms. Many are taking combat training from ethnic armed organizations in Myanmar’s borderlands and forming more organized rebel groups (namely People’s Defense Force). Bombs, assassinations and ambushes have started going off weekly in some cities with casualties on both sides. Myanmar’s shadow civilian government declared it legal for civilians to use force to defend themselves and has licensed PDF groups to resist the military’s brutality.
1. Pray that the Lord would bring this escalation of violence to an end.
2. Pray for Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to reign over Myanmar, and for the true and lasting peace that only God’s Kingdom can bring.
