“I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 34:4
Myanmar’s military regime uses fear not only to control civilians, but also its own soldiers. A growing number of soldiers have defected from the military since the coup began, saying they could no longer bear to carry out orders to shoot unarmed people. Some have boldly joined the Civil Disobedience Movement, while others have fled into hiding in India. Some report that there are many more soldiers and even officers who want to defect but hold back out of fear.
Prayer Requests
1. Praise God for all those who have bravely defected from the oppressive ways of Myanmar’s military, and pray that many more would have the courage to do the same.
2. Pray that civilians and soldiers alike would seek the Lord and find that He can deliver them from all fear.
