Day 25: Prisoners

Day 25: Prisoners

“Let the groans of the prisoners come before You; according to Your great power, preserve those doomed to die!”

Psalm 79:11

Since the coup began, the Tatmadaw has detained over 4,000 members of opposition to their regime. Released prisoners have reported that soldiers beat them with glass bottles and whipped them with cable wires during their imprisonment, and the Tatmadaw itself has released pictures of tortured detainees as a fear tactic. In February, the junta released thousands of ex-convicts and gave them money to set fire to homes and tamper with water sources. Meanwhile, demands for the release of political prisoners from the National Unity Government and the international community have fallen on deaf ears.

Prayer Requests

1. Ask the Lord to hear the cries of those unjustly imprisoned and tortured by Myanmar’s military, and to preserve them in His great power and mercy.

2. Ask the Holy Spirit to change hearts in the military regime, so that political prisoners and the whole country of Myanmar may be free.
