“These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
Revelation 7:14
Thingyan is Myanmar’s New Year and the beloved Water Festival season. This year (April 13-16), instead of light-hearted water fights and symbolic acts of washing away evil, the streets of Myanmar were soaked with the blood of its people. Protesters called for boycotts on military-sponsored celebrations, repurposed traditional Thingyan practices as symbols of protest, or cancelled the festival altogether to mourn the hundreds killed in military crackdowns. For many, it was a time of grief and defiance, not celebration.
Prayer Requests
1. Pray with us that all of Myanmar would be covered by the blood of Jesus Christ – the only thing that can truly wash away evil.
2. Pray that out of this time of deep grief and anger, many hearts would be made new in Christ and given reason to truly celebrate.
