“For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire. For to us a child is born… and His name shall be called… Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:5-7
When anti-coup protests first broke out all over the country, they were staunchly peaceful. As the military junta’s brutal crackdowns steadily worsened, more and more protesters began choosing more aggressive, desperate forms of self-defense: firebombs, bows and arrows, makeshift firearms, and even combat training from ethnic armed organizations in Myanmar’s borderlands. Bombs have started going off daily in some cities without anyone claiming responsibility. Myanmar’s shadow civilian government declared it legal for civilians to use force to defend themselves and has formed a “People’s Defense Force” to resist the military’s brutality.
Prayer Requests
1. Pray that the Lord would bring this escalation of violence to an end.
2. Pray for Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to reign over Myanmar, and for the true and lasting peace that only God’s Kingdom can bring.
