“His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
and His kingdom endures from generation to generation.”
Daniel 4:34
Within days of Myanmar’s coup, thousands of civilians poured into the streets in anger to protest for the release of newly-elected officials and restoration of democratic rule. Many waved pro-democracy flags and slogans, flashed the three-finger salute from The Hunger Games books, and used social media to broadcast their surge of daily protests to the world. Many believers participated, but as one ministry leader wisely cautioned, “The demonstrations for democracy are important and we support them. But we also know that in Jesus’ day many of God’s people confused the overthrow of a brutal military regime with the coming of the Kingdom.”
Prayer Requests
1. Pray for believers and unbelievers alike to put their hope in the unending Kingdom of God instead of the passing shadow of Myanmar’s earthly governments.
2. Pray for Christ-followers in Myanmar to engage these perilous times with the eyes and heart of Jesus, seeing and living out His vision for the Kingdom as He did.
