"Continue to remember those in prison"

Prison authorities shot and killed seven inmates and injured 12 more inside Kale Prison in western Sagaing Region on Tuesday evening in what the junta has said was a hostage crisis and escape attempt instigated by the prisoners. The junta identified the casualties as Myo Min Tun, Win Ko Naing, Maung Nyi, Chan Min Ko, Tuu Khine, Nyunt Win Aung and Salai Shalom Shan Thang Lian @ Van Din.

Van Din was a member of the Chin National Organization/Chin National Defense Force (CNO/CNDF) who was arrested by the Military Council in Kale township in June 2021 and was being held in Kale Prison, according to the Chin National Defense Force.

Locals and an area resistance force have rejected the military’s claim and condemned the shootings. According to an AAPP (Assistance Association for Political Prisoners) report, over nine thousand people have been arrested, charged or sentenced as of 17 March 2022.

“Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”

~ Hebrews 13:3 (NIV)

Prayer Requests

Pray over these people who have been arrested since the coup began. Pray that they encounter the peace and hope of Jesus that sustained the apostles in prison.
