Sufficient nutrition is a primary key to a child’s overall growth. Hundreds of children in the slums of Myanmar are barely surviving on food that lacks the nutrition needed for healthy growth and development. To meet the needs of some of these children, one of our partners set up a mini soymilk production factory and distributes soy to up to 700 children in the slums weekly. The distributors in charge told us, “A cup of soy milk has equal nutrition to eating three eggs.”
Among the children, Nun July Moe is an 11 year old girl who has three brothers and one sister in her family. She stays in a small hut in the slum area with her parents and siblings. Her father works outside for the family while the mother stays at home looking after them. Our ministry partner’s staff introduced Jesus Christ to the children, including Nun July Moe as part of the distribution every weekend. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She reads the Bible and prays with us. Her new life goal is to become a good teacher who would illuminate the ignorant. Now, she enjoys singing the Sunday School songs and playing with the children. Of course, she loves to drink soy milk also. Our partner is committed to go alongside her so that she can truly follow Jesus Christ and fulfill her dream.
Prayer Requests
Let’s pray for the children in the slum families. Pray that God will give means to support the families. Pray for their health and safety. Pray that the children will know the love of God. Pray that the Bible verse and the worship song lyrics will touch their hearts and transform them in Christ. Pray for our partner ministry that they would continue to distribute soymilk to more children regularly.
